12. Can I inherit debts too?

Yes, because the estate not only includes assets, it also includes all debts. How should one proceed here? Never give an unconditional declaration of inheritance. Otherwise, as an heir, you are also liable with your private assets. Important: You can always turn down an inheritance!

The FPÖ’s reform meeting will be postponed to early 2020, according to party leader Norbert Hofer

The FPÖ is postponing its retreat planned for mid-December, which is supposed to bring about the “” new start for the FPÖ “”. The new date is January 8th. Party leader Norbert Hofer confirmed this to the APA on Tuesday. The postponement is purely for reasons of time. Hofer decidedly rejected a report by the “” Kurier “”, according to which there is also concern about further revelations.

Hofer: At the request of reform groups

A few days ago he phoned the head of the modernization group, the FPÖ mayor of Wels, Andreas Rabl, and he asked him to postpone the date, Hofer said in an APA conversation. Because some participants did not have time on the date planned for mid-December. Therefore, the exam was postponed. It will now take place two days before the FPÖ New Year’s meeting, Hofer said.

The “” Kurier “” had reported in its Tuesday edition that the board meeting of 18./19. December is postponed to January 8th. Accordingly, in addition to scheduling reasons, there should also be concern within the party about further revelations as a result of the confiscation of ex-party leader Heinz-Christian Strache’s cellphone, according to the report.[123 and me] Partisans and grands alike would fear that more chats apart from the casino cause could become known.

Hofer resolutely opposed this representation to the APA. Because with regard to further possible revelations, it would make no difference at all whether the exam takes place in mid-December or in early January, he said.

“We are on a good way”

In any case, the work of the reform groups would proceed well. “” The days are permanent “”, most recently a questionnaire was drawn up for FPÖ officials. “” We’re on the right track, “said Hofer.

Hofer announced the retreat at the beginning of October. After the Ibiza and expenses affair of ex-FPÖ boss Heinz-Christian Strache, she should bring the party back to life. At that time the relevant working groups were set up by the FPÖ board: With the development of a new, more modern appearance for the party, among other things, the mayor of Wels Rabl commissioned. Upper Austria’s FPÖ regional chairman, Manfred Haimbuchner, is in charge of stricter compliance guidelines.

Whenever people meet, their status in relation to each other is decided in a few seconds. Profiler and criminologist Patricia Staniek explains in her new book “Status” “how to keep the upper hand in every situation and thereby gain more hearing, recognition and respect.

The behavior analysis expert had to painfully experience first hand how the status playground works around 20 years ago. She was already an executive back then and finally started her own business. Good things drove her to a business appointment.

© Mark Evans The car may have moved down the status hierarchy over the years, but it still works as a symbol

With an orange-colored Opel Concorde that is getting on in years. Because there was no longer any free customer parking space, she parked – without thinking much about it – in the second executive car park. A mistake as it turned out.

“Competence alone does not count, status always plays a role”

What exactly happened? Despite the competent appearance, the customer remained skeptical. The board of directors peeked out the window and asked if that was their car that was parked there. Staniek answered in the affirmative. The board of directors said frankly: “” And you want to sell me here how to make a team successful – with this car ?! “” The appointment ended with the withering words. The deal was off. Staniek left the building angrily, tears came to her in the car. “” At that moment I started to deal with the status issue. And I am also concerned with the rules in business life, “” she said in an interview with “” News.at “”. Her conclusion: competence alone does not count, status always plays a role.

What is meant by status?

Status is not just about what we own. Obvious status symbols such as the expensive car, the noble watch or the fashionable designer handbag are merely identifying signs that suggest: “” I can afford it “”, “” I know my way around “” or “” I am one of you “”. In addition to this external symbolism, the inner attitude is particularly important.

“Status is a form of communication”

“” The way we interact with one another is the other form of status, “” says Staniek. If you feel bad on the inside, you can also tell on the outside – even if some people try to hide their emotional state with status symbols. It never quite succeeds.

You don’t care about status? Nobody can escape!

Even if many people claim that they do not care about status symbols and status games, no one can escape. That is why the difference between inner and outer status as well as high and low status is worked out in the book.

Tips to get yourself a reputation:

  • Choice of words How I say something is crucial! Always pay attention to the volume
  • Think before action Before you start to speak, always consider how you should act best: strong, submissive, submissive, dominant …
  • Remain authentic Appear self-confident, but not cocky. Caution is advised, it is a fine line.
  • Always think bigger The following applies: “If you want to become something, you have to make the others believe that you could actually become it” “

An example: While the manager has high status in the company, they will be well advised to have low status at the police control. “” Status games are always on, whether at work, in everyday life or in a relationship. The most important thing is to understand how status games work. And how I act and communicate correctly in the respective situations – because status is a form of communication, “” says the profiler.

This is how you learn to play with power

According to this, we would express our status at any moment through behavior, clothing, voice, language and body language. The status can be higher or lower depending on the person with whom we are currently in a relationship. In order to learn to play with power, you need a lot of self-reflection. “” In the first few chapters in the book, I identified my traffic jams myself and invite the readers to think for themselves where they stand and what else they need to achieve their goals. “”

»There is no ideal state for status«

The style of playing status and exercising power depends on people and situations. “” When it comes to status, there is no ideal state, it is important that you can convey what you set out to do, “says Patricia Staniek. Her logical conclusion: “” If the inner status is right, then the external effect factor also fits. “” And everyone can always help with clothing.

The four status types simply explained

1. The doer: I feel high on the inside and play high on the outside: “I want distance and respect” – he tends to get respect, but no sympathy2. The charismatic: I feel high on the inside and play deep on the outside: “I want distance and sympathy” – he tends to get respect and sympathy3. The team player: I feel deep inside and play deep outside: “” I want closeness and sympathy “- he tends to get sympathy, but no respect4. The arrogant: I feel deep inside and play high on the outside: “I want closeness and respect” – he tends to get neither sympathy nor respect

Assessing people correctly – a guide

In order to have good cards in the status game, it is important to assess the other person correctly. Asking yourself questions can help with the analysis: How does the person who comes up to me appear? What does she look like? How does she speak and what choice of words does she make? What gestures does she use? An example: If someone puts their hand on your shoulder, it is not always a sign of cordiality. It can also mean making the other small. An effective antidote is to simply put your own hand on it again. “” This is how you prove your status, “” says the profiler.

This is how you prove your status

Trained politicians, such as German Chancellor Angela Merkel, also resort to such subtleties. “” Angela Merkel is an introvert, on an extrovert stage. If she doesn’t want anyone to get too close, then she completely stiffens her outstretched hand, “” says Staniek. These are also power games.

Gut feeling vs. Staging

With all the observations and details, it is above all important to always listen to your own gut feeling. “” Don’t believe everything other people say. Even if you prefer to hear positive things, you always have to ask whether there isn’t another side, “” advises the expert. The perfect staging has become part of our society and it has to be checked.

In conclusion, the author reveals what her personal status symbol is: “” I have many beautiful things, but ultimately my family and the wonderful time I spend with my friends can never be surpassed in status.
